Liverpool's rumoured interest in Naby Keita, the Guinean midfielder at RB Leipzig, has suffered another blow with Sporting Director Ralf Rangnick issuing another bold statement on behalf of the Bundesliga club.
Rumours have been circulating for a week that the reds are preparing a big bid whilst associates of the player have suggested he wants to move to Anfield.
But so far RB Leipzig haven't been playing ball, certainly in public.
And today the German club held a press conference with Rangnick and the club's head coach to talk to the local media about their plans for the season ahead.
Rangnick said:
"We will definitely not be letting any key players go. There's nothing that will make us budge.
"It's totally normal for other clubs to be interested in our players, but that doesn't change our stance on the matter.
Liverpool's pre-season is underway and the first friendly game takes place in in less than a week.
When are more signings happening we will not be able to compete with just two signings
I definitely expected a bit more than 2 to be done by now. Either we pick the worlds most hardball clubs to do business with, or teams see Liverpool coming and think ‘lets take the piss’.
