Reports in Spain suggest Liverpool are set to shake hands with Sevilla for the services of left back Alberto Moreno.
According to several media reports in Spain, a deal could be announced as early as tomorrow - some suggesting that a Merseyside medical could await the 21 year old as early as the morning.
After the reds first summer purchase being a 32 year old - the recent additions of Cam and this planned deal are a return to the youth policy embraced by Fenway Sports Group.
The transfer fee is expected to be in the region of €20M (£16.2M) with a further £2M in add-ons depending on various footballing milestones.
If it goes through it will be a significant investment in a defender - especially one of such a young age.
Moreno, similar to Liverpool's current left back Jon Flanagan, was part of his country's 30 man 'pre-World Cup' squad - but did not make the final 23 to travel to Brazil.
Liverpool are hardly stretched in terms of numbers for defenders - however the future of both Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique are in some doubt at Anfield. This potential signing will only increase speculation concerning those two.
Johnson's form has been temperamental at best - a word that could equally be applied to Jose Enrique's ability to avoid injury.
The Spanish press also report that Moreno, who turns 22 next month, will be offered a 5 year contract at Anfield.
