Although Liverpool last week accepted an offer of £6M for Ryan Babel from Hoffenheim, it appears that the players has not reached an agreement over personal terms with the German club.
When asked about the player in today’s press conference, Dalglish bluntly replied.
“He’s staying here.”
Ryan may have been holding out on a move to Ajax, who are yet to declare a firm interest in the player. Meanwhile Liverpool are ready to do a deal with Ajax over Suarez without Babel’s involvement, which could mean he may still need to renegotiate a deal with Hoffenheim. Liverpool have left the player in no doubt that his future does not lie at Anfield.
Dalglish also swerved questions from the media about Charlie Adam. Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has spent all weekend discussing Liverpool’s ‘scandalous’ offer for the player to whoever would listen, but Kenny would not be drawn in to the debate.
“I’ve said before, when we’ve got some business to discuss, we will discuss.
“We’ve said that we will try and adopt the way of Liverpool Football Club, certainly one of our ways is to be respectful to other club, and certainly players at other clubs.
“The most important thing we have is the ones at our football club, not somebody else’s players.”
Liverpool have been dismayed by the public discussion of bids by Blackpool in what they see as an attempt to encourage a bidding war.
Update 9pm: A statement on the official website now says that “Ryan Babel has agreed a move to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.” The player is believed to be on his way back to Germany this evening.
I’m happy Babel is staying he’s as good as anything we could buy for £6mil he’s a good squad player and a great player to bring on to stretch defences when we’re counter attacking hope we still sign Suarez though
