NANDO FINISHED AT ANFIELD
Fernando Morientes spell at Anfield looks set to end sooner rather than later after the clubs that have been circling the Spanish international began to swoop on the striker. Nando, who cost the reds £6.3 million, has finally been declared surplus to requirements by Rafa Benitez who will reflect on his first significant transfer failure at Liverpool. Real Betis and Espanyol of Spain, and Turkey's Fenerbahce are all interested in the striker, and news reports on Spanish television have said that Espanyol have made a €3.5 million (£2.3 million) enquiry to the Liverpool board. Liverpool, who believe the failure of the striker to make the Spain squad has hit his valuation, are believed to be ready to accept a deal nearer the £3 million range, and it is possible that a transfer could be concluded early next week.
