REDS STRIKERS TRANSFER LATEST

Cisse: Marseille still love him

A quick update on transfer rumours circulating about strikers.

Marseille are still keen on Djibril Cisse and their chairman is expected in Liverpool shortly to discuss a potential transfer. The reds striker is expected to be out until early Autumn with his broken leg. Gerard Houllier at Lyon also hasn't given up on the player stating that he would be following developments for interest.

No doubt the injury will affect the valuation, but it seems some deal may still be possible - most significantly a loan deal with the option of purchasing the player.

"We are very interested in Cisse. I deny that he has signed but there has been contact between the clubs," Marseille chairman Papa Diouf explained.

"Why will I be at Liverpool next week? To go deeper into the case with Cisse, his agents and his club.

"I have confidence in him and he will be okay in September or October to recover his potential."

"We are interested in a loan with the option of (signing) Djibril Cisse and we will continue to look at this," he said.

Reports have also surfaced in the Daily Mirror that the reds have agreed a £10 million deal to bring Dirk Kuyt to Anfield. The Holland player hasn't set the world on fire in the World Cup so far, and it looks like this is instrumental in Feyenoord deciding not to hold out for a greater fee.

And Craig Bellamy talk still goes on. The price tag, rumoured to be £6 million, may help his case. The Blackburn man is believed to have a contract clause enabling him to talk to several major clubs, but he is believed to not be first choice at Anfield and Rafa will need to know the player is happy not being first on the team sheet.
