GARCIA SPEAKS OUT

Luis Garcia has bee speaking ahead of his debut tomorrow at Bolton on his plans for his Liverpool career.

"In Spain we have two teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona, who dominate.

"In England there are three, so I am used to such situations and there is a comparison.

"But we are up there with those three and can battle for all honours this season, I believe that."

"The differences between the two leagues are not too big, the occasional variation in tactics, but we believe we can work here.

"We see a lot of English games on TV, all the Spanish players watch the games when they are in the hotel waiting to play their own games the following day.

"We know the big teams, and what has really impressed me is the atmosphere in the grounds.

"The fans live for the game, it is tremendous and something to behold. The grounds are always full, every game, every match. They are always sell-outs and the fans never stop supporting their team right to the end.

"If you are playing and the crowd is right behind you - and they are very close too in England - it helps.

"If you play a bad pass you know they will not turn on you or whistle, if you miss an opportunity the crowd stick with you. That is vital and something that has impressed me."

Luis Garcia was also handed the famous number 10 shirt, recently left vacant by Michael Owen's departure.

He said: "I gave that a lot of thought, the 10 is a big number with so many famous players having worn it. But I decided that it would be something that would inspire me to do well, it excites me.

"The qualities Michael has as a player means he will have no trouble at all settling into Spanish football, and I believe I will adjust quickly to English football."
