SPANIARD CROCKED Liverpool new boy Antonio Nunez suffered a freak injury yesterday in training when he twisted his left knee in training. The player who had been unveiled by Rafa Benitez only hours earlier will be sent for a scan today, with suspected ligament damage. Antonio Nunez appeared 10 times for Real Madrid last season, all after having come on as substitute. It is well known that Real Madrid's training is much less demanding than Liverpool's and we can only wonder if the difference in training intensity is part of the reason behing yesterday's injury which happened with no other players near him. Nunez was due to play in last night's reserve defeat against Middlesbrough and then hopefully make his first team debut against Man City, but it looks like Steve Finnan will continue in right midfield. |
