Spurs boss Jacques Santini is looking for a right back following Stephen Carr's move to Newcastle and has now earmarked Finnan for the role.

The player only arrived at Anfield at the start of last season but having failed to ever reproduce the form that saw Liverpool part with £3.6 million to lure him from Fulham, he is now seemingly surplus to requirements.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has indicated he is prepared to let Finnan move on, having already bought his replacement in the form of Josemi from Malaga.

Although neither club have made an official comment on the situation, it is expected Spurs will make an approach in the region of £2 million
