WARNOCK READY TO BECOME FIRST TEAM STAR

Stephen Warnock could be set for an influential role at Anfield this season after recently signing a new 2 year deal. The Ormskirk-born 22 year old who was on loan at Coventry last year (and their player of the season) had the option of making his move to Coventry permanent but after discussions with Rick Parry decided to challenge the Anfield first teamers for a place.

"Looking at it now it looks like I made the right decision to stay at Liverpool. I wasn't too sure what to expect following the change in management. On the one hand I was thinking the new manager may want to bring his own players in and that my chances would be limited but things couldn't be any worse than they had been and I suppose everyone was starting from fresh.

"The new manager has given us new ideas and the training has changed. Things have changed at Liverpool but being away for a year you tend to forget what does actually go on. I was used to a routine at Coventry and now I've got to get back into the routine at Liverpool. Hopefully I can do enough to impress the manager and play my way into his plans."

"I want to be involved in the squad and games on a more on a regular basis. Ideally I'd love to get some time playing in the first team but obviously the experience of just being in the squad would be great for the time being."

Stephen was a boyhood Liverpool fan, and hopes that this year he really can make some in roads in to the Liverpool first team:

"I grew up as a Liverpool fan and used to stand on the Kop so it would be a dream to play there. I used to go every week and my dad's friend used to get me a ticket for every game and I would stand on the Kop and go to the European nights at Anfield as well.

"The dream hasn't come true yet. I need to prove to the manager I have something that he wants. I'm just going to keep plugging away and hopefully it will."
