Liverpool midfielder Anthony Le Tallec has joined French club St Etienne on a one-year loan deal.
The 19-year-old impressed during Liverpool's pre-season campaign but has struggled to break into the first team since joining in June 2002.

"I wanted people to see me and to be able to play for an entire season," said Le Tallec. "I think I will have a chance to do that at St Etienne."

Le Tallec has already spent a loan spell at Le Harve whilst at Anfield.

New Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez gave the promising midfielder permission to leave Merseyside in search of more regular football.

But the Spaniard will monitor Le Tallec's progress and St Etienne have not been given the option to buy him after the end of the loan spell.

"He is only 19 and perhaps it is good for him to go elsewhere in order to gain experience," Benitez said last week.
