OH BEHAVE GERARD! Igor Biscan could emerge as a top class centre half for Liverpool this season, according to manager Gerard Houllier. Biscan performed well for 90 minutes against Cologne on Wednesday and Houllier believes his Croatian international could provide top class cover for Sami Hyypia and Stephane Henchoz at the heart of the Liverpool defence this season. Houllier said: "I like him in this position. He is strong, powerful and quick which are attributes I like. "He could be good cover in that central defensive role. It will be his position in the future." Biscan has made just 24 appearances for the Reds since his £5.5 million transfer in December 2000. Editor - let's hope Gerard had been on the wine before he came up with this pearler. |
