Liverpool breached the 90 point mark, moving on to 91 points with their 10th straight victory in all competitions.

The win returns the reds back to the top of the Premier League, admittedly maybe just for 36 hours.

With Mo Salah being left out of the PFA Team of the Year he decided to score two more goals.  Taking him top of the Premier League goalscoring charts.  And overtaking Roger Hunt to become the most prolific LFC player in the first 100 appearances.  He has scored 69 goals in his opening 100 matches.

Not to be undone, Sadio Mane also bagged two goals to follow on from Naby Keita's opener.  Sadio Mane enjoying his best season by some distance in a Liverpool shirt.

Teams

Roberto Firmino was left out after a mild injury knock in training - Daniel Sturridge came in to the side.  Dejan Lovren replaced Joel Matip in defence.

But all eyes were on the bench - Alex Oxlade Chamberlain back in a Liverpool squad - one year and 2 days after he was injured in the first leg 5-2 win over AS Roma at Anfield.

Missing an entire year - luckily for him the reds are back at where he left off - in a European Cup semi-final all over again.

Early goal

Huddersfield have been relegated for some time.  But the reds scoring after just 15 seconds was still a surprise.  The reds capitalised on Huddersfield fumbling at the back and Salah played in Naby Keita who drilled in the opening goal - he's a player with his feet well and truly under the Anfield table.

After this the reds stuttered somewhat.  Scoring too soon had introduced some complacency and it took  a good ten minutes for the reds to regain control.

Once they did there was only one team in this game.

As it happened: LFC 5-0 Huddersfield

Sadio Mane headed in from an Andy Robertson cross midway through the first half.

Sturridge, van Dijk and Henderson should have all added to the goal tally in the first half.

Just on the stroke of half time Salah scored his 68th goal in a Liverpool shirt.  Alexander-Arnold's ball through the middle and Salah lobbed Lossl to make it three.

HT: LFC 3-0

On to the second half and Klopp kept his players out there - no thoughts about the upcoming Barcelona game.

In the 56th minute, Daniel Sturridge thought he had his goal from an Alexander-Arnold cross.  But the offside flag was up.

Salah then went close - drilling a wonderful hit into the side netting.

The fourth goal was coming - and it was Sadio Mane who nodded in again - this time from a Henderson cross.

Shaqiri and Oxlade-Chamberlain came on to great applause and both had immediate impacts.

With 10 minutes left, Salah made it five.  He tapped in from another excellent Andy Robertson cross.

Both players could have had more on the night - Mane going very close when a third header was rebounded off the post.

But it was more than enough as the rain began to batter Liverpool's stadium.

91 points from 36 games.  Back on top of the league for now.  A record breaking season from Liverpool.  Four, possibly five games left of the season.
