Leicester 1 – 3 LFC: Liverpool come back from a goal down against 10 man Foxes

Leicester City went a goal up thanks to a Mignolet own goal  before the reds turned the tables to land their second consecutive league win.

Liverpool will take an overnight position of 8th in the league after picking up their 2nd win in three days.  Although they could end the midweek in 10th, two wins is a huge improvement over the horrible November endured by LFC supporters.

Under-fire Simon Mignolet saw the ball bounce off him to give Leicester a lead, but goals from Lallana, a returning Gerrard and Jordan Henderson ensured Liverpool took all the points - Leicester's Wes Morgan was sent off for bringing down Rickie Lambert when he was the last man.

Javi Manquillo was brought back in to the side to replace Jose Enrique (who had a decent game at the weekend), Adam Lallana was back in for Coutinho and Steven Gerrard replaced Joe Allen who had played 3 times in 8 games.

They were the only changes from the Liverpool side that started the victory over Stoke.

Mignolet made two major errors within 2 minutes of each other.  First a sloppy clearance went straight to the feet of Esteban Cambiasso. The Leicester midfielder thankfully missed the open goal.

Shortly after Ulloa's shot rebounded off the post and with Mignolet missing the save, the ball bounced off the back of his head in to the net.

Fortunately Liverpool's reponse was quick, Lallana firing a left footed volley past Peter Schmeicel's son, Kaspar, thanks to a Rickie Lambert  knock down.

10 minutes into the second half, Gerrard reacted quickest to a poor clearance and fired home.  An answer to his critics or proof that he should either a) be playing further up front or b) rested more often.

Or both.

After setting up Gerrard for his goal, Wes Morgan then dragged Lambert to the floor - to receive a red card.

With 7 minutes left, Gerrard broke down the left - his cross took a deflection but Schmeicel failed to hold a relatively tame ball.  It bounced out of his grip to Sterling who backheeled into the path of the onrushing Henderson.  3-1 to the reds.

Liverpool can now look ahead to two important games at Anfield.  The visit by Sunderland at the weekend, and then the crucial Champions League knockout decider between the reds and FC Basel.

It would be pretty helpful if we won both.
