Liverpool won their second Premier League match of the season to continue their 100% start.
The reds are now unbeaten in 10 Premier League games stretching back in to last season, and the last time LFC won their opening 2 games was 5 years ago when Rafa Benitez' Liverpool were narrowly pipped to the title by Manchester United.
Today at Villa Park, the reds started strongly - taking advantage of Aston Villa playing their third game in a week.
The reds pace and passing across the pitch had clearly taken Villa by surprise, and the reds dominated the majority of the first half.
Sturridge, Coutinho and Aspas rotated around the front three causing a headache for the opposition defenders.
In the 21st minute the reds got the goal their play had deserved. Jose Enrique sliding in a pass which Coutinho allowed to go straight to Sturridge. Sturridge twisted and turned, leaving the keeper for dead, before exquisitely firing the ball into the roof of the net.
Another game, another goal for the reds hitman.
Liverpool couldn't build on the goal, and Villa had far more of the play in the second half. Benteke and Agbonlahor becoming more involved as time passed. Benteke had a great shot late on, when Agger and Toure lost their man, but Mignolet was on hand to provide another fine save.
Daniel Sturridge was unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty when Guzan brought him down in the area.
Aly Cissokho, the loan signing from Valencia, was handed his LFC debut from the bench, replacing Iago Aspas with twenty minutes to go.
Liverpool go level with Chelsea at the top of the Premier League.
