Wigan Athletic 0-4 Liverpool
Luis Suárez grabbed his second Premier League hat-trick of the season as the reds made easy work of Wigan to compete a league double over Roberto Martinez' men.
Steven Gerrard captained the side as he made his 400th Premier League start for the reds. Daniel Sturridge was missing from the Liverpool squad - ruled out due to fitness.
But the reds raced into a lead within 2 minutes when Coutinho's cross found the head of Stewart Downing (yes - the head of Stewart Downing) who opened the scoring for Liverpool.
In the 18th minute Coutinho was involved again - setting up Luis Suárez for Liverpool's second.
The travelling Kop were enjoying themselves and Pepe Reina was also in the mood - tipping over a header from Di Santo, and another fine save from Boyce's effort.
Just after the half hour and the reds were 3-0 up.
Suárez added another free kick to his season tally - his set-piece going in off the post past a hapless Al Habsi.
Any remote possibility of a second half comeback from Wigan was put to bed 3 minutes after the restart.
This time Glen Johnson was the creator, but as is usually the case, Luis Suárez was the finisher. He cooly despatched the reds 4th and his hat-trick goal.
Liverpool coasted through the rest of the game - although Henderson came off the bench to go closest to giving Liverpool a consecutive 5-0 win.
Liverpool move back up to 7th, 3 points behind their Merseyside neighbours but 10 points behind 3rd placed Chelsea (Spurs play tomorrow).
Strangely, the reds have the same number of wins, draws and defeats as this stage last season - although Rodgers will be aiming to pick up far more than 10 points in the remaining 10 games.
