New Liverpool signing Xherdan Shaqiri got his first 45 minutes in a Liverpool shirt underway with an assist and goal in front of more than 100,000 supporters.
The huge crowd in Michigan watched as Liverpool drew their US Tour to a close with a comprehensive win over Jose Mourinho's men.
Starting XI: Grabara, Camacho, Van Dijk, Klavan, Moreno, Fabinho, Milner, Lallana, Salah, Mane, Solanke.
The reds began with Kamil Grabara in goal after knee concerns for Loris Karius, and Naby Keita also still unavailable with a sore neck.
Liverpool started with Salah and Mane in the side, but it was the changed second half side that inflicted the most damage on United in the stadium they call the 'big house'.
Mo Salah was a threat throughout and he was eventually brought down in the 26th minute inside the area. As in the last game, up stepped Sadio Mane to power the penalty away.
But Liverpool's lead only lasted four minutes when one of United's brighter players of the game, Andreas Pereira, fired in from a free kick.
The reds made five changes at half time (including the first sighting of Xherdan Shaqiri), and then a further six just after the hour minute resulting in an entirely different line up.
Team after an hour:
And within a minute of coming on Daniel Sturridge had found the net - Xherdan Shaqiri getting the assist.
It's been a positive pre-season for Sturridge who has endured a number of years plagued by injury.
A few minutes later and the reds were awarded a penalty - Sheyi Ojo and Captain Daniel Sturridge having discussions - before Sheyi Ojo stepped up and scored. Cool as you like.
Liverpool were in the groove now and with less than ten minutes remaining Xherdan Shaqiri unlocked 'overhead kick mode', scoring his first goal for the club, albeit in a friendly, to give LFC fans plenty to talk about.
A good friendly run out and the reds will be pleased with their efforts across the US Tour.
After the game Jose Mourinho surprisingly turned on some of his younger players, clearly disappointed in the efforts of his side. It could be an interesting season ahead on and off the field.
Liverpool fly back from the US Tour after the match and the likes of Roberto Firmino and Alisson Becker will now join up with the squad.
Two weeks until the reds Premier League campaign gets underway.
