Liverpool completed their final local friendly last night before they head to the United States for the next stage of their pre-season preparations.

It was another sunny summer evening in North West England, as the reds travelled up to Championship side Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Danny Ward has been linked to a move to Leicester, and thus wasn't involved in the squad.  Klopp had claimed at the weekend that Ward would start this game.  Ryan Kent and Pedro Chirivella were also kept out of the side as they prepare for loan moves, whilst Gini Wijnaldum missed out as he isn't 100%.

The reds have been putting in plenty of training during the day of these local games and therefore the outfield players continued to be limited to 45 minutes.

First half team: Karius, Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Moreno, Milner, Lallana, Woodburn, Ojo, Origi, Solanke.

Dominic Solanke was fouled early on, but James Milner's penalty - smashed to the left hand side - was well saved by the Blackburn keeper.

Divock Origi did manage to get the ball in the net but Alberto Moreno, who provided the assist, was called offside and the goal was chalked off.

Towards the end of the half Adam Lallana, with his interesting new hairstyle, was denied by the crossbar.

Loris Karius did pull off a couple of good saves and the sides went into the half time break level.

Second half team: Karius (Kelleher 60'), Gomez, Van Dijk, Philips, Robertson, Jones, Fabinho, Keita, Camacho, Sturridge, Markovic

On to the second half and all 10 outfield players were replaced - the captains armband moving from Milner to Daniel Sturridge.

Early on Keita found Sturridge, who probably should have done better but he sent his shot wide of the goal.

In the 64th minute, Sturridge turned provider - feeding the lesser spotted Lazar Markovic who took his goal exceptionally well to put the reds 1-0 up.

Naby Keita wanted another crack at the assist, and this time his ball to Sturridge was met with more convinction by the former England international who left footed the reds second goal to round off the victory.

Shortly after the game the attention focussed on to new signing Alisson.  Just over 3 weeks now until the start of the Premier League season...
