Liverpool came from a goal down to record a 2-1 victory over Preston North End at Deepdale.
The reds can now look forward to a trip to the US after overcoming Preston. Liverpool had fallen behind to a late first half goal after failing to deal with a corner.
Rickie Lambert and Emre Can both started for Liverpool - their first outing in the shirt - although Can was withdrawn after 20 minutes with a calf strain - he was replaced by talented youngster Jordan Ibe.
His opening 20 minutes had shown brief glimpses of his power and ability.
Fabio Borini was also named in the Liverpool line-up, just hours after a transfer to Sunderland appeared to have been sealed. However, whilst the two clubs have agreed a fee for the transfer - the player has not yet agreed terms and for now at least remains a Liverpool player.
The reds made the main changes after the hour mark. Suso scored a left-footed curler from outside the box in the 74th minute to equalise. He received the ball after a good run from Jordan Ibe.
Two minutes later the game had turned on it's head. Ibe, running to the touchline, cut the ball back to Peterson to put the ball away.
Away from the game LFC appear to have agreed a fee with QPR for their French striker Loic Remy who could join Liverpool on their overseas tour in the coming days.
