It was perhaps fitting that Mark Tyler, the Peterborough United keeper for whom this testimonial was arranged, kept a clean sheet as a second string Liverpool side drew 0-0 in today’s friendly.
With most of the Liverpool first team in Hong Kong preparing for the Barclays Asia trophy, Gary Ablett took charge of some of Liverpool’s new youngsters, and a handful of players who have moved from the Academy to Melwood this summer.

However, the game was devoid of any real sparkle – and the biggest cheer of the day was for Mark Tyler who has so far made over 450 appearances for Peterborough in a 13 year spell.
