Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will face his old club Swansea in the 4th Round of the League Cup later on.
Rodgers guided the Swans in to the Premier League, and then saw them secure a solid mid-table place in their debut season before taking over from Kenny Dalglish in the Anfield hot-seat.
Liverpool are expected to make massive changes to the side that drew against Everton at the weekend - in the previous round of the cup 11 changes were made from the previous league line up.
Whilst the reds have had a shaky start to the season, they are currently on a four game unbeaten run in all competitions, but new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup will be eager to get one of his predecessor.
Former Swan, Joe Allen, may start from the bench - with rumours also suggesting Joe Cole may make the side.
At stake tonight is a place in the Quarter Finals, and Liverpool's fringe players will be well aware that as holders of the trophy - the Anfield contingent have a healthy appetite once more for trips to Wembley.
Glen Johnson, Lucas Leiva, Fabio Borini and Martin Kelly are all unavailable due to injury - and Pepe Reina could return after injury has kept him out of the side for some weeks.
Ashley Williams and Wayne Routledge are both doubts for the Welsh side.
In his press-conference Brendan Rodgers said:
"Of course we want to win the game, but this is a competition where we have used a lot of younger players.
"The younger lads who played at West Brom have benefited — they have pushed themselves into the first team — and we are very light in terms of numbers in our squad.
"We are fighting in three different competitions — improving in the Premier League is obviously our priority, and the Europa League is a terrific competition.
"For me the Capital One Cup is an opportunity to see some of the younger players.
"There are other priorities, but as always we want to put out a team that will win.
"We are playing at Anfield and there is a place in the quarter-finals at stake, so we want to push on."
Predicted Line Up: Jones, Wisdom, Coates, Carragher, Downing, Pacheco, Shelvey, Henderson, Cole, Yesil, Assaidi
