After a miserable couple of weeks Liverpool will be hoping to vastly improve in terms of performance and result as they face a Chelsea side, level with Liverpool on points in second place in the league.
After Liverpool ended Chelsea’s 86 game unbeaten run earlier this season – the blues will be looking for revenge. But Liverpool will be desperate to complete a double over Chelsea and get back to winning ways.
History
Liverpool will be aiming for their 50th Anfield victory over Chelsea on Sunday, having already beaten Chelsea 1-0 away earlier this season thanks to a Xabi Alonso goal.
The reds last Anfield victory over Chelsea was in the 2007 European Cup semi-final when a Daniel Agger goal helped the reds to the European Cup final in Athens. Earlier that year the reds beat Chelsea 2-0 at home in the Premiership.
The last time Liverpool completed a league double over Chelsea was in 1989/90. The year we last won the title.
