Sat 22nd November 3pm, Anfield
The reds return to an unusual 3pm Saturday kick off at Anfield, to take on 10th placed Fulham in a game with Liverpool hoping to continue their good form after a midweek of internationals.
Fulham have only lost once in their last six matches and defeated the reds bogey side of the season, Spurs, in their last game. Liverpool will face former blue Andy Johnson in the game, and former player Danny Murphy is still an instrumental part of the Fulham midfield.
Steven Gerrard suffered a muscle tear in last weekend’s game against Bolton and is doubtful for this game. Fernando Torres played and scored in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Chile on Wednesday and Robbie Keane missed the Ireland game with a shoulder injury.
History
Fulham have never won at Anfield in their history, stretching back to 27 games. The reds running out winners on 20 occassions.
The last 5 Anfield results have been 2-0, 2-0, 4-0, 5-1, 3-1.
But Fulham are a much improved side this season but only at home. On the road they haven’t won, and have lost four out of their five away day trips. Although their defence has only conceded six times in these five games, proving that they provide a decent challenge.
In last season’s 2-0 win the reds had trouble breaking down Fulham, with both goals arriving in the last ten minutes courtesy of Torres and Gerrard with a penalty.
Betting
The bookies heavily favour the reds. The draw and even a Fulham win are at silly odds.
Liverpool 2/7
Draw 4/1
Fulham 14/1
The bookies are predicting a 2-0 Liverpool win, some reds fans may remember the 10-0 win back in the 80’s. The odds of lightning striking twice there are 500/1. We fancy a 3-1 win which is priced at 11/1.
