Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is set to hand £35M deadline day signing Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain his first start for the reds in tomorrow night's game.
The reds first domestic cup game of the season is a tricky tie away at Premier League opposition - Leicester City.
It begins a double-header against the Foxes - the reds are back there on Saturday evening for a Premier League encounter.
And the reds' squad will be utilised in full for the competition - with Danny Ward expected to feature in goal. Marko Grujic who has been involved for the Under 23's will also get his opportunity in central midfield.
The Liverpool boss said:
"It's a fantastic opportunity for Alex. Since he's been here it's been difficult to train on different things because it's game after game after game.
"We sit together with him and the analysts to show him how we want him to play in this position or that position. It's worked too but there's no rush. It's really good that he's here.
"Already on the weekend he came on in a difficult situation. There was pressure and we tried to do something without giving up too many opportunities. We took a lot of risk in this game and he was involved in it and did really well."
Meanwhile Klopp is considering a positional move for Joe Gomez alongside the return of Dejan Lovren.
"Dejan didn't play [against Burnley] because of the back problem. So we have to see how we can line up at centre-half - is Joe a centre-half or full-back? And stuff like this. We will see how we can do this"
Klopp was asked if this was an opportunity to give Danny Ward a game in goal and initially gave a tongue-in-cheek response.
"I would love to but I'm not sure if the world is ready for such a crazy decision. A third goalkeeper in one season without an injury - so 'I can't do it, no'.
"Of course, Danny Ward will play tomorrow if nothing happens over night."
The involvement of Danny Ward means that the reds boss will likely use all three goalkeepers in separate competitions this season. Karius will play in the Champions League, and Danny Ward in the League Cup - although Mignolet has made way in one Premier League game already - against Arsenal at home.

The reds have reached a minimum of the last 4 in each of the last 3 seasons of this competition, and the League Cup was the last trophy the reds won - back in 2012 under Kenny Dalglish.
The match kicks off at 7:45pm BST against Leicester.
