Liverpool have one more pre-season friendly, or two depending on how you view the Community Shield, before the Premier League campaign gets underway in 11 days time.
Yesterday the reds slumped to a third defeat in four in pre-season with Italian side Napoli running out 3-0 winners at Murrayfield.
Liverpool's three game US tour ended without a victory although the reds did manage to end with a 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon.
Jurgen Klopp was taking questions about the general pre-season and the upcoming clash against Man City at Wembley on Sunday.
"I don't want to find excuses before we play (Man City) but we had a completely different pre-season.
"We played it without six players. From a freshness point of view, the games came at the wrong moment.
"Have we had the best pre-season of our lives? I cannot say that with the results, but the sessions were really good.
"The problem is all the games are in public so everybody sees what we're doing. But we have to prove ourselves during the season, not in one game."
When one reported suggested that the Community Shield was in essence another friendly, Klopp appeared to be surprised.
"I would like to try to win it - it's a final.
"This is the first time I realised that nobody sees it like that, to be honest. 'A curtain-raiser', it's unbelievable."
The reds are now heading to Evian for another training camp - but will be bolstered by the inclusion of Keita, Shaqiri, Alisson, Firmino and Mo Salah who all make their returns to the Liverpool squad.
