Midfielder Kevin Stewart will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a hernia.
The Echo reports that the 23 year old underwent an operation last Friday.
After plenty of involvement in both the team and matchday squads, Stewart has fell out of favour with the Liverpool manager in recent months, with just two unused substitute appearances to his name since he completed the full game in Liverpool's narrow 1-0 win over Plymouth back in January.
The club rejected moves away for the player in the winter transfer window, but are likely to be more receptive to offers in the summer with a move away looking like the best move both for the club and the player, which could mean the player has played his last game for the club.
The reds did hand the player a new five year contract last Autumn despite him only having had at the time 18 appearances for the club.
Since he arrived at Liverpool from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2014, Kevin has had brief loan spells with Cheltenham, Swindon Town and Burton Albion.
