Liverpool's £32.5M striker, Christian Benteke, will undergo a scan a on his hamstring today.
The player was joined by Daniel Sturridge for the first time in the weekend's 1-1 draw against Norwich but was removed at half time, replaced by eventual goalscorer Danny Ings.
Gary McAllister was speaking ahead of Liverpool's League Cup clash with Carlisle and said
"Christian will have an MRI scan today.
"He’s not going to be ready for tomorrow."
Liverpool face Benteke's old club Aston Villa at Anfield this coming weekend and Benteke is currently the reds top goalscorer, with 2 goals.
Benteke was initially withdrawn complaining of a tight hamstring but the symptoms failed to ease on Monday.
McAllister also heaped praise on Danny Ings following his debut goal.
