Injury prone Daniel Sturridge out for a month

Daniel Sturridge broke down in his first team training session since 'returning' from injury and is set to miss a vital period of Liverpool's season.

The striker, who suffered with injuries throughout his time at Man City and Chelsea, has now suffered at least 8 separate injury incidents since arriving at Anfield less than 2 years ago.

He had suffered a thigh injury with England over a month ago which has prevented him playing for the reds but now his problem is with his calf. Again.

Whilst last season's strike partner Luis Suarez was a rare visitor to the treatment room, Daniel Sturridge probably knows it like the back of his hand.

With 7 enormous games ahead, including two clashes against Real Madrid that could decide Liverpool's Champions League fate the injury could not have come at a worse time - with the player likely to miss at least a month, and on previous history of recuperation - likely more.

Brendan Rodgers said:

"He's looking at being out for two to four weeks.

"It's a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back. He has worked tirelessly.

"But we have other players training hard and working hard and we will turn to them. It's why we bulked up the squad in the summer."

Liverpool travel to London later today ahead of an early afternoon kick off against Queens Park Rangers.
