Brendan Rodgers wanted a little more Brazilian in his life last Saturday evening at the Emirates.
The return of Phil Coutinho to first team action was one positive to take during the defeat away at league leaders Arsenal.
The Liverpool manager brought him on at half time for left wing-back Aly Cissokho - ditching the 3-5-2 system for a traditional 4-4-2.
Rodgers sang his praises:
“We brought Coutinho on and he made the field a little bit narrower whilst allowing us to maintain the two up front.
“And he was terrific when he came on. He’s a wonderful player and we would’ve loved to have started him but he’s only come back into the fold, and got the medical clearance, in the last couple of days. But his introduction gave us the opportunity to control the game more with the ball.”
“He’s a wonderful player and a big talent for around £8m.
“He is remarkable. His feet, his talent and his ability on the ball.”
The reds are at home to Fulham this weekend. All eyes will be on the choice of wing backs and who is moved out of the starting XI to make way for Coutinho.
