Roy Hodgson has drafted in Raheem Sterling in to the senior England squad ahead of Tuesday's game against Ukraine.
Theo Walcott, John Terry and Ashley Cole are all unavailable after picking up injuries.
Liverpool's talented 17 year old has played for England at U16, U17 and U19 level - but this call up sees him skip straight past the Under 21 side - currently captained by Jordan Henderson.
England coach Roy Hodgson said:
"I feel we have enough players to take into the game but it was a good opportunity to invite these young players."
Meanwhile, Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard added:
"I think he deserves this call-up. The impact he's made has been sensational.
"He's been one of our shining lights. The important thing is he keeps his feet on the gruond. I think it won't be long before he's in the set-up for real."
