Liverpool FC and Real Madrid have reached agreement over a one year loan deal for Nuri Sahin, the 23 year old Turkish midfielder.
The player is expected on Merseyside this weekend to undertake his medical and take in the home game against Manchester City.
Only last weekend the mainstream press had Sahin down as an Arsenal player, citing an intervention by Arsene Wenger, but the deal is believed to have fell through due to finances.
It is rumoured that there is no buy out clause at the end of Sahin's contract.
Nuri Sahin rose to prominence at Borussia Dortmund before Real Madrid took him to the Bernabeu last summer. However, his first season in Spain was disrupted due to injury problems.
