Andy Carroll is amongst the names in the Liverpool squad for the reds pre-season tour of North America.
Weekend speculation centred on the reds number 9, after Newcastle were the first team to be flushed out with a conclusive loan offer for the player. They intended to loan the player for a year, with the option of a permanent deal.
However Liverpool have rejected a loan return to the Sports Direct Arena. But it is believed that Liverpool could be convinced to the merits of a player sale if they received an appropriate enough bid for the Geordie front man.
Carroll has endured a difficult time since his transfer to Anfield 18 months ago - scoring only 11 times in 57 appearances - however his performances towards the end of last season were a step, albeit a very late on, in the right direction.
Despite this it appears that Carroll may be a casualty of the new managers arrival - with the belief that Rodgers will prefer a more fluid and mobile strike force, rather than one built on aerial strength and rugged force.
