Pressure is increasing on Christian Poulsen to find a new club, from the unlikely source of the manager of his national team, Morten Olsen.
The 31 year old player has been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield since Dalglish’s arrival, despite Roy Hodgson’s £5M purchase of the player from Juventus last summer.
Poulsen is the captain of the national team, but this has not stopped him being dropped by the manager for next month’s important Euro 2012 qualifier against rivals Norway.
Olsen stated:
“He’s stressed by his situation, that’s why I’ve chosen to overlook him this time.
“We hope that Christian finds a good club and gets playing time so that he can return against Portugal and Cyprus in October.”
Liverpool will have little chance of recouping the £5M they paid for the player last summer, but with the arrivals of three midfielders, coupled with the steady progression of Jay Spearing, it appears that Poulsen is a growing member of the unwanted over-30’s at Anfield.
