Jamie Carragher is available for selection for the weekend, whilst fellow Liverpudlian Steven Gerrard is likely to miss out.
Dalglish used this morning’s pre-match press conference to issue an update on Liverpool’s injury concerns ahead of the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
After missing the last two Premier League games with a muscle injury, the club’s vice-captain Jamie Carragher is back in training and available for the manager to select him if required.
Steven Gerrard is making good progress in his return to fitness following an ankle infection, although he is not yet ready to return to the first team.
Dalglish said:
“Steven is progressing brilliantly. There is nothing that’s been a disappointment other than he’s not been available for selection. He’ll be available as and when he’s over what he’s got but everything’s going really well. We couldn’t ask for more or any greater news from him.”
The manager also reserved special praise for Luis Suarez, who scored all four goals in Uruguay’s demolition of Chile last week.
“It’s great for Luis to get four goals – I wish it was for us rather than his country! Maybe he’s kept some up his sleeve for us in the coming weeks.
All of the players from international duty will meet back up at Melwood this afternoon. Liverpool take on Chelsea on Sunday in the 4pm kick off.
