Liverpool’s improvements in the youth structure in recent years was in evidence last night as England secured a 1-0 victory over Montenegro in the European Championship Qualifiers.
Jonjo Shelvey and John Flanagan were unfortunate withdrawals from the squad leading up to the first of three qualifiers, but the other 5 LFC players in the squad all played their part.
Andre Wisdom captained England, and Jack Robinson, Conor Coady and Thomas Ince all started the match. Striker Michael Ngoo also played for the last 30 minutes of the match, in which England dominated but were denied on numerous occasions by the opposition goalkeeper.
England will play Switzerland tomorrow, before clashing with Spain on Sunday.
