Yesterday’s service at Anfield marked the 22nd anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
With a Hillsborough independent panel continuing the work to look at the documents related to the disaster, a panel created in 2009 by the previous government, the families and friends of those who lost their lives are one step closer to being told the truth about that fateful day in 1989.
Jimmy McGovern gave a reading at the service and local MP Steve Rotherham also announced that the Hillsborough Families had requested him and several other parliamentarians to lay down an early-day motion in the House of Commons asking for Kenny Dalglish to be officially recognised for the work he and his wife had done in supporting the families over the years.
