Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid) Free Transfer
The Argentine winger offers the abiity to play on the left and right wing. His contract was due to expire in the summer and Atletico eventually let him leave on a free. No doubt there will be some deal behind the scenes for the reds to play a pre-season friendly against Los colchoneros.

Andrea Dossena (Napoli) £4.4M
The Italian defender just failed to fit in to the Premier League, another Italian to be a casualty of the Premier League. The pace of the league was something else compared to what he was used to and Rafa quickly realised he was out of his depth.
He had some limited joy in left midfield, but most Liverpool fans knew that he was always going to move back to Serie A. Napoli have played 4 times with him since he returned, winning once. Dossena has only started in one of those games – a 3-0 defeat to Juventus.
Andriy Voronin (Dinamo Moscow) £2M
The reds free transfer ended up earning the club some money back.
Was a fine player in pre-seasons, but when it came to the actual competitive games woefully disappointed. An unimpressive performance in Lyon earlier this season sealed his fate.
Christopher Buchtmann (Fulham) £100K
Probably the most surprising deal, albeit a minor one. After joining in 2008 from Borussia Dortmund, the German was tipped for big things after not only helping the reds to the FA Youth Cup Final but also helping Germany to win the Under 17 championships.
For whatever reason, it just hasn’t worked out at Anfield and Roy Hodgson made the move for the player.
Loan Deals
Nathan Eccleston (Huddersfield Town) Loan
The reds young striker signs a loan deal till the end of the season. He was recently handed a new 3 year contract with Liverpool – so the club will be hoping he gains valuable experience over in Yorkshire.
Nathan scored on his debut for the club against Yeovil. This impressive start turned what was originally a 1 month deal in to a season long one.

Expenditure £0
Liverpool’s net transfer spending in the last 2 years now stands at -£4.5M. I’m not too sure how a club is supposed to advance by having no transfer budget, and there is no doubt that a lot of Liverpool fans will be disappointed with our transfer activity.

I don’t think we can blame the Moores… they acted in what they believed was the best interest of the club. Liverpool desparately needed the investment to progress, develop and to get the new stadium it requires; Moores couldn’t do that. H&G came along with a story of being in the sports business and wanting to invest in the Premeir League. I think that their initial intentions were sound but with the economic downturn they suffered and now the club is suffering. Maybe in hindsight Moores should’ve gone with the Dubai option but we will never know that. In the meantime we still have a solid foundation, no danger of administration, healthy if however lower than expected position in the league; we will need to wait until the summer now!
