Steven Gerrard, alongside the rest of the reds England World Cup contingent, returned to training at Melwood today – whilst the rest of the squad are still in Switzerland preparing for tomorrow night’s game against Grasshopper Zurich.
Speaking to the official site, Gerrard commented on Joe Cole’s signing and looking forward to the season ahead in the red shirt.
“It’s a great signing for us. I know Joe well through the England set-up and have seen first hand just how good a player he is.
“He’s proved his ability over many years in the Premier League, sometimes against us – so it will be fantastic to play alongside him in a red shirt for Liverpool.
“I’ve told him what a great club this is and I’m sure Joe’s the sort of exciting talent our fans will love to see.”
“(On his own future) I made it clear that I simply needed to concentrate on the World Cup and then have a decent holiday with my family.
“I wanted the chance to meet Roy Hodgson privately and having done so I’m very impressed with his plans for the future of the team.
“I’ve only returned to training today at Melwood with some of the other World Cup players, but I can’t wait for the new season to start.”
Liverpool take on Grasshoppers Zurich tomorrow night at 6.30pm.
reiras gone, degen is out too, next 2 days or so, insua nearly there another 48 hours, thats means with the kitty and possible sales form plessies, itandge, and cavalieri then Roy has well over enough to buy a left back and frontman, with the other money it could be that arda turan wears the number 7, what a great bit of business that would be,lets hope so,,,,, looks likely!
This dosn’t sound like a man who wants to leave the club? Stand up all those who have been feeding negative vibes!
