Alan Shearer is the latest confirmed star to confirm his involvement in the Hillsborough Memorial game played at Anfield tomorrow night.
Shearer will play for the All Stars against Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool Legends side to raise money for the Marina Dalglish Appeal which is raising funds for a new radiotherapy centre in Liverpool.
Shearer said:
“I’m really looking forward to the game and am delighted to help such a brilliant cause.
“Having spent time in Merseyside during my spell at Blackburn Rovers, I know how important Hillsborough is to the people there.”
The All Stars side is managed by Ricky Tomlinson and coached by Jamie Carragher and some of the players include Teddy Sheringham, Dave Watson, Alan Stubbs, Trevor Steven Alan Irvine, Mike Newell, Graham Stuart, Des Walker and Nigel Clough alongside Shearer. Craig David and Joe Calzaghe are amongst the other members of their side.
The Liverpool legends side includes Jan Molby who can’t wait to lace up his boots and play again in front of the Anfield crowd.
“All the lads are really looking forward to it and I’m sure it’ll be a really good occasion.
“When you’ve hung up your boots you think that you won’t get the chance to play at Anfield again but I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity a few times now.
“If you look at the names involved that just goes to show how important the causes are but also how much pull Anfield has. It should be a great night.”
Tickets can be picked up at the Anfield ticket office or via the credit card line 0844 844 0844.
Adult tickets are £15 and under-17’s are £5. All money raised goes towards the Marina Dalglish Appeal.
