After a disappointing two seasons at Anfield, Ryan Babel has been told he can find a new club this summer, according to the Daily Post.
The Dutch player’s agent, Winnie Haatrecht, met with Rafa Benitez about the player having greater involvement in the first team next season. Babel has started just 6 times for the reds in 2009.
His agent was told that Liverpool would not be able to provide such guarantee’s and that the player could now speak to other clubs during the summer transfer window.
Ryan Babel cost the reds £11.5 million in July 2007, and the reds will be keen to see as much of that money returned to the club. Ajax were linked with the player in the January transfer window, and with Martin Jol now in the hot-seat, they will be looking to bring in players this summer.
Babel has made 91 appearances for the reds, although only completed the full game on 15 occasions. He has scored 14 goals.
Some Premiership clubs have also been linked with the player.
