According to today’s Times newspaper Manchester United have moved to stop a Liverpool physio working with the England national team.
Dave Galley has been working as a physiotherapist in football for more than 25 years and was to join up with the England medical staff for the upcoming friendly against Slovenia and the World Cup qualifier against Croatia. But David Gill, who is the chief executive of Man Utd and a senior member of the FA board, stepped in with the end result being that Galley would not join up with the full squad and remain as physio to the Under-21’s.
David Gill is believed to have suggested that the Liverpool physio would gain valuable information about the fitness of players from other teams.
An FA spokesman said:
“Dave has reverted back to the Under-21s after one game.
“There should be no questions against his professionalism, We must be clear that there is an agreed board policy that has nothing to do with Manchester United that the medical staff should be independent.
“Franco Baldini (Capello’s general manager) and Rafael Benítez (the Liverpool manager) discussed the matter yesterday and it was explained we wanted to see Dave working with the team in the friendly this month. We refute any suggestion that we have been pressurised by Manchester United.”
I can smell fear.
The website came up in my research and i am stricken by what you have prepared on this issue. I’m at the moment branching out my search and therefore is unable to contribute further, however, I’ve saved your blog and will be coming back to keep up with any forthcoming changes. Merely appreciate it and thank you for allowing my remark.
If thats the case then there should be no representative from any premiership club in the FA because it’s the only way to be totally unbiased to all the clubs in it.
This type of bias is dangerous and unfair to every other team because it sends out the wrong message about the FA and puts the advantage squarely in united’s corner.
No one man should be able to make policy nor should he be able to unfairly influence decision making at the FA for the benefit of any one club.
In my opinion if this article is sound in research + “truth”, Gill has done a stupid thing here because the spotlight is now on him and the media ( not in man u’s corner ) will want to expand and elaborate on this article and find out just how far this goes .
I for one however don’t think much will come of it , at least in the FA , but you never know pigs might fly !
HAHA Inglorious Basterd, 1 rule 4 U another for everyone else Huh????
It’s nonesense United don’t care if he works with England or not. Liverpool won’t be a fret this season you have already lost twice and you haven’t a hope in hell of not losing to the big teams again. You will be defeted at least 7 times this year and will draw loads we don’t fear you you’d be lucky to get into the top 4 this season!
Nightrunner what the f**k are you on about you moron? Won’t be a fret? Could you possibly mean a threat you f**king half wit.
Would you want a physio or a physician employed by Manchester United to have access to the medical records of a Liverpool team member?
Do you mean like when Steve McClaren was assistant manager at Man Utd and assistant coach with England for two years?
