Liverpool are being linked with a shock bid for Franck Ribery in a move which will have sent Real Madrid on the back foot.
Bookmakers have been closing their books on the Frenchman playing for Liverpool after a flurry of large bets on the proposed transfer move.
However, it is understood that Bayern have slapped an 80 M euro price tag (or £69M) on the player and this is certain to be out of Liverpool’s price range. The Telegraph continues to report that Chelsea are the preferred bidders and may chance their arm with a offer before the July 16th deadline imposed by Bayern Munich.
Other reports also suggest that it is a smokescreen, conducted by Real Madrid, to try to further unsettle Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.
There has been no official comment from either club.
