One of Liverpool’s finest ever overseas players, Sami Hyypia, will be leaving Anfield this summer to move to new pastures.
The former reds captain, who joined 10 years ago this month has passed a medical today with Bayer Leverkusen and will join the German side this summer on a two year deal. Sami’s contract was due to expire this summer.
The Finn signed for the reds for only £2.5 million and was a stalwart of the side not only during Houllier’s reign but the beginning of Benitez’ Anfield era.
With 463 appearances, Sami is 20th in Liverpool’s history of all time appearances for the club.
Nobody can deny that Sami still has a lot to offer on the football pitch and we would like to wish this magnificent Liverpool servant all the best in his future career.
