Daniel Agger has today spoken about the new 4 year contract he signed with Liverpool at the end of last week.
Speculation had been rife since before the January transfer window that Agger would be moving on in the summer with an array of Italian clubs interested in his services. All that speculation was put to bed last week and for the Dane the new deal was a huge relief.
“We are close now and of course I would be happy to stay at Liverpool because it is what I’ve been working for for the last few years.”
“It’s important as a player to have the faith of your manager because if you don’t have that then you’re probably not at the right club.”
Agger played in the reds 3-0 victory over Newcastle at the weekend, and with the crowd baying him to shoot every time he was in the opposition half, he had a number of fine chances that could have saw him on the scoresheet.
“I think our performances have been good of late and we know that all we can do now is win our own games, we can’t do any more than that.
“We were a bit unlucky not to score more than we did and I think we could have done with getting more because you never know how the season will end and goal difference could still be important.
“The other positive was that we kept a clean sheet because we have conceded too many goals by our own standards in the last few games.”
