Javier Mascherano, the reds on-loan midfielder, is beginning to look ahead to his future when his loan deal expires next summer.
The reds are believed to be keen on keeping the player even though his valuation is expected to reach £17 million, payable to MSI Investment who ‘own’ the player.
Under the terms of the loan deal the reds have the option of purchasing the player before the deadline which is the 30th June 2008.
Rafa Benitez is a keen admirer of the qualities of Javier Mascherano, and Mascha himself has been the biggest supporter of Benitez’ much debated rotation policy.
“I’m very happy here. I feel settled and would like to play at the new stadium,” said Mascherano.
“I love playing for Liverpool and if the manager wants to keep me then I’d definitely stay for a long time.
“Liverpool are one of the world’s biggest teams. They’ve got history, tradition and success and great fans.
“Rafa’s always used rotation so why would he stop it when it has brought him so much success?
“I know if I want to play I need to work really hard. We have good players in every position so no one has the right to start every match.”
This looks like it will have the perfect ending. Buy a new hat for the wedding of Mascherano to Liverpool – sometime next June we think.
Give yourself all a huge round of applause.
…striker???
“Javier Mascherano, the reds on-loan striker”???
I think you’ll find Mash plays in midfield!
On loan striker?
