Liverpool and AC Milan have been kept apart in today’s UEFA Champions League draw and could possibly meet in Athens after the quarter final and semi-final draws were made today.
Liverpool will take on PSV Eindhoven over two legs, the side who finished runners up to us in Group C. We drew 0-0 away at PSV and won 2-0 at Anfield. All three English teams avoided each other, but the winners of our Quarter Final will take on either Chelsea or Valencia in a semi-final.
On the other side of the group, Man United face Roma, the winners playing the victors of the other quarter final Milan v Bayern Munich.
PSV Eindhoven knocked out Arsenal in the previous round. Their coach, Ronald Koeman, was manager of Benfica, the team that knocked us out of the competition last season, and Rafa and the players will be keen to avoid lightning striking twice.
Liverpool will have home advantage in the second leg, which could be decisive, in both the quarter final and any potential semi-final. Hopefully there will be more than one big European night left at Anfield this season.
