Dependant, of course, on the right price being reached.
Scott Carson’s England call up will only increase the value of the ‘England number 1’ and Benitez is demanding around £10 million for the services of arguably the best English keeper.
Speaking to the official site Benitez today said:
“You can understand that he wants to play. He knows Pepe Reina is top class and that it will be difficult for him to play here.
“Scott is a good professional and a nice boy. This is a crucial time in his career and he needs to play. At the moment we are concentrating on our own team and our own competitions, but Villa can decide if they want to keep the player.
“At the moment we have Pepe, Charles Itandje and David Martin as goalkeepers so we can manage the situation okay.”
Carson’s loan deal expires in the summer at Villa, but as his reputation increases no doubt other major European clubs will begin to sniff around the talented keeper. It may be in Villa’s best interests to conclude this deal in the January window.
