Chris Kirkland’s horror season is almost behind him and he aims to be back for pre-season to give Gerard Houllier a goalkeeping dilemma right at the beginning of the next campaign.
“I started running two weeks ago and so far everything is going to plan,” said the 22-year-old today.
“I’m really optimistic I will be fit enough to play in pre-season. It’s very important for me to be ready for that because that’s not something you ever want to miss as a player.
“All things being well, I’ll make it and it looks very positive at this stage. I just have to keep working hard over the summer.”
“I won’t need to go back to America, which is a bit of a relief,” he said.
“I would like to say how much I appreciate the work of all the physios at Melwood who’ve been helping me.
“Our staff of Dave Galley, Mark Browse and Dr Mark Waller have been absolutely top class and I can’t thank them enough at the moment.”
