It's matchday 6 in the Premier League and the reds will be looking to move back into the top 6, or possibly higher, if they can get a victory today at the King Power stadium.
The midweek League Cup defeat is still fresh in the memory, but the reds haven't endured the best of times in the Premier League at this ground.
Leicester beat the reds 2-0 on the way to their title 2 season back and then won last season, in the first game after Claudio Ranieri was sacked.
Liverpool could also face some defensive headaches - with injuries and minor problems affecting both Lovren and Matip. Sadio Mane is also still suspended - although this is the last of his three game match ban.

As it happened...
Spurs won earlier today, Chelsea, Man Utd and Man City are all currently leading - meaning the reds simply have to go out and get a much improved result against Leicester.
But the reds do not have a particularly impressive record in recent years at the King Power Stadium.
You've got time to read our match preview.
Well, Lovren and Matip both make it into the side despite issues around training this week.
Mignolet,
Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno,
Henderson, Can, Wijnaldum,
Coutinho, Salah, Firmino
LFC Subs today: Karius, Milner, Sturridge, Solanke, Klavan, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexander-Arnold.
The bane of Liverpool in midweek, Okazaki, starts for the Foxes. Vardy has scored 4 goals against Liverpool at this ground in the past 2 league meetings.
Leicester side: Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan (c), Maguire, Chilwell, Ndidi, King, Albrighton, Mahrez, Okazaki, Vardy.
Bench: Hamer, Fuchs, Amartey, Iborra, Gray, Iheanacho, Slimani
Both City and Chelsea have fired in 4 goals with no reply. Chelsea away at Stoke, and Man City at home to Roy Hodgson, and Mamadou Sakho's Crystal Palace.
Man Utd maintain a 1-0 lead away at Southampton - Virgil van Dijk has spent the game on the bench there for the Saints.
A win for LFC today will put the reds level with 4th placed Spurs.
8 points from the opening 5 games is a little below what Klopp probably would have hoped for - those draws against Watford and Burnley denying the reds a total of 4 points extra.
But the reds form over the previous 19 Premier League games is very good - and it actually improved a notch after last weeks game.
Rio Ferdinand giving LFC's defence a knockout blow on BT Sport: 'Dejan Lovren isn't good enough - Alberto Moreno - great going forward but defensively not good enough.'
Another stat has been highlighted that shows Liverpool have conceded the least number of shots on target of any Premier League tonight - so despite the problems with defensive errors - there is some promising statistics on defending as a team unit.
Craig Shakespeare, Leicester boss:
'We know we're in for a tough game today. We've said we have to be more difficult to play against - the likes of Coutinho like playing between the lines.
We need to get in amongst them because we are at home and make sure we play for the full 90 minutes today.'
We are underway at Leicester.
1' Not a great start as Dejan Lovren fires a pass straight out for a throw-in. But Liverpool win the ball straight back and Emre Can has 3 attempts to shoot - his last one is saved by Schmeichel.
6' Space down the wing for Vardy - from a tight angle he shoots and Mignolet parrys. Mahrez in for the follow up and he puts it over the bar.
Emre Can smashes a shot - it hits the post - bounces back and running in Mo Salah puts the ball wide. It was coming back at him quick - but what a chance
16' MO SALAH!!
It's a great cross from the left side by Coutinho - Salah places a brilliant header inside the near post.
Leicester 0-1 Liverpool
It's a brainfart from Simon Mignolet who gets caught in possession with the ball at the edge of his area. Shot goes narrowly wide.
23 mins
Leicester 0-2 Liverpool
And it's Phil Coutinho who fires in the free kick - right footed and curls it into the left hand post.
30' Liverpool looking comfortable here. A couple of minor mistakes by Mignolet and Lovren so far but the reds have got away with it. Jamie Vardy high up the pitch and Leicester look to go long whereever they can.
But it's the reds 2-0 up so far.
39' Leicester trying to get themselves back into this game but the Liverpool defence is holding firm so far. The Foxes are wary of committing too many men forwards with the threat of Salah, Coutinho and Firmino at the ready.
Here comes a free kick for Leicester.
They pump it long, Okazaki fires it past Mignolet but the goal is disallowed for offside.
VAMOOOOOOO! ???????? pic.twitter.com/2ZI9z6PE6k

43' A good break upfield from Liverpool - Firmino goes for the shot but it goes across the face of goal - Coutinho is sliding in but he can't reach it. It remains 2-0 to the reds.
We're into the 2 minutes of first half added time.
45+2 Matip trips Jamie Vardy - gets a yellow card and it's a good position for a free kick for Leicester. Corner of the box.
And it's a great save by Mignolet to tip over from a Vardy header!!!
Leicester get a goal back, from a corner. It looked like Mignolet was being fouled by Okazaki there.
Leicester 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool concede just at the end of that half in somewhat controversial circumstance.
Okazaki looked like he was holding Mignolet back as the reds defended a corner. He then got the final touch on the ball to edge it over the line.
46' And the first chance falls Liverpool's way - the ball floated to Coutinho who strikes the volley from the corner of the box.
54' Decent start by Leicester to this half - placing pressure on the LFC defence, but the reds earn some respite and have two quick corners themselves.
56' Lovren is being held for that Liverpool corner. Nothing given by the ref and Lovren is furious. Referee gives him a yellow card for dissent.
59' An improved period of play from Liverpool - Salah enjoying a bit more space down the right.
Henderson sends a ball over to the back post and Emre Can is running in but his header goes over the goal of Kaspar Schmeichel.
Leicester about to look for some inspiration from the bench.
60' Leicester make the game's first change.
Demarai Gray comes on for the subdued Riyad Mahrez. Gray scored the second goal against Liverpool on Tuesday - let's hope he doesn't repeat that feat here.
65' Daniel Sturridge is on for Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has had a quiet game for the reds.
67' A very important block by Joel Matip to deny Jamie Vardy who had got the wrong side of the LFC defence.
You won't believe this...
Jordan Henderson!
68' Quick break from the reds - Daniel Sturridge plays it across to Henderson - he takes his time - moves the ball right and then fires it in.
Leicester 1-3 Liverpool
70' And Leicester hit straight back with Jamie Vardy
Mignolet tips a shot into the path of the Leicester striker who heads it into the empty net.
Rushes out and clatters Vardy in the penalty area. Soft sod. Gets a yellow card as well.
Jamie Vardy absolutely smashes it down the centre but Mignolet stops it!
75' Emre Can goes off and on comes James Milner
79' Coutinho heads off and on comes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The reds haven't won yet since the former Arsenal player signed for Liverpool on deadline day.
And they bring Islam Slimani on for Marc Albrighton as they go all out now with attackers to try and get level in this game.
We've got 10 minutes plus the inevitable plenty of added time.
88' The reds have used all their substitutes and James Milner looks like he has picked up a knock. Henderson has his arm around him and he's trying to run it off.
Liverpool have used all their subs.
90' Leicester 2-3 Liverpool
An anxious wait for the full time whistle...
Liverpool get all three points....
Leicester 2-3 Liverpool
Henderson:
We showed great character. I think we can do better. But I thought we defended well for most of the game and a great save from Simon for the penalty.
We look forward to the next game.
Mignolet: (on the penalty)
I thought I got the ball I'll have to see the foul again. But I stayed cool for the penalty.
The main thing is we got the three points.
Here's the boss
We scored the goals, some nice goals.
Then the rhythm changed. We got some immediate punishment. I don't think Matip on Vardy was a foul (for the first goal).
Second half we played too much 'Leicester football' instead of our football.
We conceded after a cross and then a penalty which we save. We win the game. We didn't get any help (from the ref) all the close decisions went their way.
Our first 3 points since I've been here at Leicester so I think it was time.
Liverpool are back up to 5th in the Premier League. And the top five is beginning to look like the usual suspects. You can view the league table here
And Mo Salah has his 6th goal of the season. He is scoring goals at a rate of almost one a game - coming close to Luis Suarez in the 2013/14 season. Wonderful start to his LFC career.
Our match report is here.
We'll be back for the Moscow Champions League clash on Tuesday - and so will Sadio Mane.
