Reds’ new Argentine eager to impress Rafa

Javier Mascherano, who is widely expected to complete his move to the reds shortly, has spoken of his desire to impress at Liverpool and put the West Ham months behind him.

Speaking to Argentine newspaper Clarin about his time at West Ham United the midfielder said:

“I had no arguments with anybody, no disputes. I don’t know what had happened or what things I did wrong there.”

“I have no rancour. Fans and people in general treated me very well. It is obvious that I was not a player for that club.

“West Ham can live without me and I can live without West Ham.”

Looking ahead to his potential career with Liverpool he said:

“I wish to repay Liverpool’s efforts to sign me on the field.”

“I want to gain the respect of the Liverpool players in training and win a place in the team on merit.

“Now, a new door is open and, as always, I will get my head down and fight for a place in the team. If I don’t play, I am not happy.”

“I wanted to prove to myself that I can play here in England.”

“I’ve not been a on the pitch enough yet to know if I can. Now, there is a chance to play in a top team and fight for a place in the team with great players like Steven Gerrard or Xabi Alonso.

“It’s a fantastic challenge.”

The deal is expected to be concluded early this week after the Premiership’s big wigs finally find their reading glasses.

  1. we have been short of class cover in midfield for a long time, with sissoko out injured we dont have a natural defensive minded midfield player available. just look at the debarcle in the cups. i think that he will be having to fight with sissoko for one spot in the team, not both together. and with the possibilty of some top class additions in the summer, lets look forward to challenging realisticaly next season.

  2. so many central midfielders so i think we have to play the 4-1-2-1-2 with the wing backs providing width.

    Reina
    Finnan Agger Carragher Riise

    Mascherano

    Alonso Sissoko

    Gerrard

    Kuyt Bellamy
