Anne Williams, who campaigned for 24 years for the truth over the death of her son Kevin at Hillsborough, has lost her battle with cancer at the age of 62.
Her son Kevin was alive well after the notorious 3:15pm cut-off time of the original inquest and she had campaigned ever since to be given the truth about his death.
Shortly after the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report last Autumn it was revealed she was suffering with terminal cancer, but she has fought on - and even managed to attend the 24th anniversary service at Anfield on Monday.
She tracked down one of the witnesses who said that Kevin was alive at 4pm - even uttering the word 'Mum'.
She spent decades asking successive Conservative and Labour governments, their attorney generals and even the European Courts to give her son a fresh inquest. For over two decades the authorities denied her this - until the massive institutional cover up was finally exposed in print last September.
Since then the original inquest verdicts have been quashed and new inquests are expected to begin later this year.
Anne was at the High Court in December when the original inquest results were quashed.
In a week when much attention has focussed on a so-called Iron Lady - Anne Williams truly embodies the phrase.
